3 Day Desert Tour

A trip to Morocco needs to be at the top of your bucket list ! We spent 5 days total in the country and it wasn't to disappoint. After spending the first day in Marrakesh we embarked on a 3 day desert tour which was unforgettable.

The tour consists of a mini van with a group of 17 people, 1 tour guide and 1 driver. You leave at 7am and get taken to the Atlas Mountains where you see amazing snowy views for miles around, you then drive down to the village of Aït Benhaddou. This village is amazing, the architecture is uncanny with each house made from mud and all decorated with patterns. After seeing this you stop off for lunch at a local restaurant, this is something to be weary of when visiting Morocco as its not the same standard as Europe and definitely dont drink the tap water. We did experience a few upset stomachs. After this we drove over to our hotel for the night which was lovely, it even had a swimming pool! We ate dinner here which was very nice and had a much needed sleep.

The next day we drove towards the desert but first stopping at Todgha Gorge, this was breath taking. We walked along the river valley with a tour guide seeing the towering valley walls. We had to cross rivers on tiny little bridges and walk through green gardens. After this the last stop was the desert !

After arriving into the desert you ride a camel half way where you stop at a high sand dune to watch the sunset, the view was spectacular! One thing to note is you do need to be sturdy on your feet as it was hard work walking up the dune and climbing onto the camel. We then rode down to our camp for the night, here we had dinner and sang songs around the fire pit. We luckily had our own tent with 4 beds but just 3 people, it did us well with enough room just for the night and even a plug to charge our devices. The shared bathroom was also fine for us too.

The morning after we had a camel ride back to our van through the breath taking sunrise and said goodbye to the camels and Sahara desert.

The day back to Marrakesh sounded horrendous, an 8 hour drive!! However it was absolutely fine. It went by so fast with our guide stopping every 2 hours and we were back in the city by 7pm. The hole experience is unmissable, every location we stopped at was amazing. I recommend it to everyone!
